RDM Tool

Patch and test DMX fixtures over Art-Net, from an Android phone.

RDM Tool speaks Art-Net and RDM (ANSI E1.20) to a node on your network and to the fixtures on the DMX line behind it. It is for the moment on site when the laptop is in the truck: change a start address, rename a fixture, flash it so you know which one you are holding, or drive a few channels to see whether it lights.

What it does

What you need

An Art-Net node with RDM enabled and an Android phone on the same network as it. Art-Net conventionally uses the 2.x.x.x range, so the phone needs an address in that subnet. Such a network has no internet, and Android will offer to leave it — choose to stay connected, or nothing will be found. The node does the talking on the DMX wire; the phone never touches DMX directly. It was tested to work with several ESP32 mini node implementations (ESP32 WLAN DMX/RDM Node from DMXFREAK or LuxDMX).

Privacy

The app collects nothing: no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting. It talks only to the equipment on your own network. Read the privacy policy.
